Djanet Sears

Born in London, England, and raised in Saskatoon and Oakville, Djanet Sears is one of Canada’s most celebrated playwrights and directors. Her plays The Adventures of a Black Girl in Search of God and Harlem Duet have been produced internationally and often. Djanet’s many honours awards include: the Governor General’s Literary Award for Drama (for Harlem Duet), the Canadian Screenwriting Award, the Dora Mavor Moore Award; the Floyd S. Chalmers Canadian Play Award; the Harry Jerome Award, the Phenomenal Women of the Arts Award, the Timothy Findley Award, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Achievement Award.
