Anna Chatterton

Anna Chatterton is a librettist, playwright and performer based in Hamilton, Ontario. She is a two-time finalist for the Governor General’s Literary Award for Drama for her plays Gertrude and Alice (cowritten with Evalyn Parry, Playwrights Canada Press), and Within the Glass (Scirocco Drama). Anna has been commissioned and produced by The Shaw Festival, Tarragon Theatre, Nightwood Theatre, Buddies in Bad Times, The Theatre Centre, Theatre Passe Muraille, and Canadian Opera Company, among others. As a librettist, Anna’s work has been produced across Canada and the States and has been nominated for a Juno Award. She has been nominated for five Dora Mavor Moore Awards, winning Outstanding Production of an Opera, named a top ten Toronto Theatre Artist by Toronto’s NOW Magazine and was a finalist for the 2019 Hamilton Literary Awards in Fiction for her play Quiver. Anna has been a playwright in residence at Tarragon Theatre, Nightwood Theatre, Tapestry Opera and at the National Theatre School of Canada. She teaches theatre courses at McMaster University, Humber College and Sheridan College.
