Dave Carley: Three Plays

Dave Carley

About the Book
This collection features three of Carley’s finest comedies, including: Midnight Madness, a gentle two-hander about the chance reunion of a pair of high school misfits. Anna violated her school’s moral code—and Wesley was just weird. Can two outcasts find happiness during a late-night sale at an old furniture store?; Writing With Our Feet, a black comedy for agoraphobics about the creative impulse and the need to fling open one’s garage door and join the world (a finalist for the Governor-General’s award); and Into (inspired by a Julio Cortazar short story) where an urban nun, a mysterious beauty, a businessman, and a disaffected youth are stuck in a traffic jam outside a metropolis. As the jam extends for hours, then weeks, they must form their own community in order to survive. But then something begins changing on the horizon.

“Dave Carley’s work stands out for its questing intelligence, warm humanity, and engaging story-telling.”
