About the Author
Sharanpal Ruprai is a graduate of the University of Winnipeg and is currently teaching grades seven and eight in the city. Her work has appeared in Prairie Fire’s special issue entitled Race Poetry, Eh? She is one of three organizers of the monthly reading and openmike
series, “Speaking Crow.” She is also on the Board of Directors of Contemporary Verse 2.

Kerry Ryan lives and writes in Winnipeg. She is a former editor of Zygote magazine and a former member of the Staccato Chapbook Collective. She has published articles and book reviews in a number of periodicals. She currently sits on the Board of Prairie Fire magazine.

Melanie Unrau is a graduate of the University of Winnipeg. She writes out of a vision for peace and her experiences in Winnipeg and Cambodia.

Alison Calder is a writer and critic living in Winnipeg, where she teaches literature and
creative writing at the University of Manitoba. Her poetry and prose has been published in journals and anthologies, including Breathing Fire: Canada’s New Poets. She was a finalist for the Bronwen Wallace Memorial Award. Her latest work is a chapbook entitled Sexing the Prairie.

Chandra Mayor is a Winnipeg poet and editor. She has worked with dark leisure, Contemporary Verse 2, and Prairie Fire. Her work is included in the Cyclops Review. Her first collection of poetry, August Witch, was released in Fall 2002.

Catherine Hunter teaches English at the University of Winnipeg. She is the author of several collections of poetry, including Necessary Crimes and Latent Heat. She is also the author of two literary mysteries: The Dead of Midnight and Where Shadows Burn.
